Rental Info
Location Fee: The Location/Depot Service Fee of €28 including tax is INCLUDED in the rate, so there are no surprises upon picking up the rental car.
Roadside Assistance: All Dooley Car Rentals cars are fully covered by Automobile Association (AA) Membership.
Drivers Licence: Drivers must be in possession of a full unendorsed driving licence and be driving on a regular basis for 2 years prior to the commencement of the rental. Licences must be produced in person at the time of collection. Certain minor endorsements/offences may be accepted but you must check with Central Reservations before making a booking.
Any client with a UK photo card driving licence must produce the 2 parts of their current driving licence at time of rental. We cannot rent to UK clients who arrive with only one portion of their licence.
An International Driver's Licence (IDL) is only required if the renter's national driver's licence is not in Roman alphabet (e.g. Arabic, Greek, Russian, Chinese). The International Driver's Licence is not a valid licence unless accompanied by the driver's original domestic licence.
Additional Drivers: Additional drivers can be insured on all vehicle groups but must satisfy the same licence and age conditions as the main driver and assume the same responsibility for the rental vehicle. Additional drivers may be added to a rental at a cost of €8 per day. Only those listed on the rental agreement are insured to drive the rental vehicle. A maximum of 2 additional drivers will be permitted per rental.
Drivers: A minimum age of 28 years applies for renting executive cars, minivans and minibuses.
Young Drivers: Surcharges apply to any drivers under the age of 25 years. Prices shown on our website include this charge.
Payment: Your booking may be prepaid by either credit card or debit card. The driver must produce a valid credit card in his/her own name upon pickup. We do not accept cash. Failure to produce either a valid credit card or driver's licence will result in the client being unable to hire a car.
One Way Rentals: One way rentals are subject to a 3 day minimum rental charge. This applies to rentals being picked up and dropped off at different locations.
Flight Information: For all airport locations, you must provide us with the correct flight number and arrival time when reserving your vehicle.
Specific Car Models: Cars can be reserved by group only and not by specific model. Similar or larger cars may be substituted at the rental company's discretion.
Cross Border Driving: Unlike other car rental companies Dooley Car Rentals does not charge additional fees for cross border driving.
Road Fund Charge: Dooley Car Rentals does not charge a road fund fee to its customers.
Child Seats/Booster Seats: Baby seats and booster seats may be rented for babies/children. These seats will be provided but must be fitted by clients. Child seats must be reserved when reserving your car. Our baby seats are forward facing and are suitable for children aged from 9 months up to 4 years depending on the size of the child (9kg - 18kg). Our booster cushions are suitable for children aged from 4 years plus.
Fuel Policy: You will be charged for a full tank of fuel upon pickup and must return it empty. Refunds will not be issued for partial fuel returns.
Satellite Navigation Systems: Garmin GPS units are available for hire. It is advisable to reserve in advance. The hirer remains responsible for the GPS unit and a preauthorisation will be taken on the hirers credit card for the same return of the unit together with all attachments.
Confirmation: Please read your confirmation carefully and check all details are correct, i.e. Pick-up date, flight number, car size, transmission.
CDI Insurance Southern Ireland: A rate inclusive of CDI Insurance will have an insurance deductible (excess) of €1,200 and €1,800 depending on vehicle size. This can be reduced to €100 upon pickup for a fee. The insurance deductible (excess) will be preauthorised on the client's credit card.
CDI Insurance Northern Ireland: A rate inclusive of CDI Insurance will have an insurance deductible (excess) of £600 and £800, depending on vehicle size. This can be reduced to Zero upon pickup for a fee. The hirer will remain liable for tyres/wheels and glass.
In Derry Airport, clients are liable for £600 excess and this can be reduced to £300 by paying £5 per day.
Theft Insurance is INCLUDED in our CDI Insurance.
PAI: Personal Accident Insurance may be purchased to cover the driver for injury or death up to €12,500.
Credit Card Collision Insurance:
Certain credit cards offer collision insurance on a rental car but most Visa, MasterCards and Amex cards no longer provide cover for Republic of Ireland. It is the responsibility of the cardholder to determine coverage and present proof upon rental. A letter of authorisation from the credit card company stating the client is covered for collision insurance on a rented vehicle in Republic of Ireland MUST be presented at time of rental in order to waive the CDI coverage and an administration fee of €25 will be charged. Theft Insurance may not be included in this and will remain the responsibility of the hirer.
If proof of coverage is insufficient, the renter may be charged for CDI. If the renter wishes to decline our insurance, the renter will remain liable for the total value of the car and a preauthorisation of €3,000 placed on their credit card. An administration fee of €25 will apply.
Own Insurance Transferred:
If you transfer your own comprehensive insurance to our car or van you will still be required to pay Contingent Liability at €8 per day.
Wrong Fuel: Should you or someone else put the wrong fuel in the hire vehicle, all fees relating to this will be charged for plus (if needed) a replacement vehicle. Do not switch on or drive the vehicle, seek help and contact the rental company immediately.
Lost Keys: Vehicle keys are chip-coded and are costly and timely to replace. If you lose the rented vehicle's key, you will be obliged to pay for its replacement (approximately €300) plus any associated transport costs in connecting you with a new key or car.
Traffic Fines: Parking, Speeding, Litter, Toll and other fines are the responsibility of the hirer and will be charged to your credit card when the fine is received plus any administration costs.
Auto Theft: We strongly recommend that you park the vehicle in supervised car parks/garages in the major cities and never leave any personal items on view inside the vehicle as damage to the vehicle resulting from the theft of these will be charged for. Also, keep your key in a safe place at all times and do not allow an uninsured driver to access it.
Condition of Vehicle on Return: We require that the hirer return the vehicle in a clean condition (normal wear and tear excepted) such that only normal valeting would be required. Any damage caused to the hire vehicle returned out of office hours is the responsibility of the hirer until checked in.
Toll Booths replaced by new barrier free tolling system in Dublin.
Customers should be aware that there is no longer a cash payment facility at the tolling point on the M50 motorway in Dublin. Drivers of all vehicles using the section of the M50 between Junction 6 (N3 Blanchardstown) and Junction 7 (N4 Lucan) are liable to pay this toll.
Cars cost €3 per journey. Passenger vehicles with seating for more than 8 people cost €3.80.
Tolls must be paid by 8pm on the day following the journey. Failure to pay a toll will result in penalties and any associated administration fees.

On your return journey to the car rental drop-off location please allow sufficient time to make your toll payment at the airport.
VAT RATES:
Car Rental is subject to a VAT Rate of 13.5% on all rentals up to a 35 day limit within a 365 day time frame. We include this VAT Rate in your price. Where a renter exceeds a period of 35 days during the course of one or more periods of hire in any 365 consecutive day period, a higher VAT Rate of 23% will be charged to the rental that breaches the 35 days and each subsequent rental within that 365 day timeframe.
Van Hire is subject to a VAT Rate of 23% in all circumstances.
These VAT Rates are non-negotiable and enforceable as per Republic of Ireland Taxation Legislation.
